Navya is a student in 11th grade at the International School of Hyderabad supporting therapy for children identified through the Sobati Project at Saamarthya Foundation.

This campaign helps ensure that children who need developmental support can continue receiving the care they deserve.

The Reality Many Children Face

Across India, many children with developmental challenges never receive the support they need.

Research shows:

1 in 8 children in India (11.4%) live with neurodevelopmental disorders such as Autism, Cerebral Palsy, and Global Developmental Delay
1 in 68 children are on the Autism spectrum
• Families often face limited awareness, scarce resources, and complex healthcare systems

Even when children are identified, most never receive consistent therapy.

Without early intervention, critical developmental milestones can be delayed or missed entirely.

How These Children Were Identified

Saamarthya Foundation works closely with Anganwadis, government-run early childhood centers that support children from low-income communities.

Over the past several months, Anganwadi workers went door-to-door in their communities helping identify children who may need developmental support.

These frontline childcare workers spoke directly with parents, recorded observations, and encouraged families to attend developmental screenings organized by Saamarthya.

Because families trust them deeply, their efforts helped bring many children forward who had previously never been evaluated or supported.

Through this outreach, several children were identified who urgently need developmental therapy.

The Sobati Project

Through the Sobati Project, Saamarthya provides specialized therapy for children with developmental delays.

Children receive:

• Speech therapy
• Motor and occupational therapy
• Cognitive development support
• Guidance for parents so they can reinforce therapy at home

For children referred through Anganwadi centers, therapy is provided completely free of cost to families.

But delivering these services requires trained therapists, time, and resources.

What This Campaign Will Do

Therapy sessions cost approximately ₹800 per session.

With your support, this campaign can fund over 60 therapy sessions, allowing children to continue receiving consistent developmental care.

These sessions help children:

• improve communication skills
• strengthen motor development
• build cognitive abilities
• participate more confidently at home and school

Even a few months of consistent therapy can make a meaningful difference in a child’s development.

Impact

This campaign supports 18 children with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, and developmental delays identified through Saamarthya Foundation’s outreach in rural communities.

Many of these children come from families working as daily wage laborers or domestic workers, where specialized therapy is often unaffordable.

Through the Sobati Project, children receive therapy from trained special educators and occupational therapists, including:

• Speech therapy
• Motor and occupational therapy
• Cognitive development support

₹2,400 supports three therapy sessions for a child with autism or intellectual disabilities.

Parents also participate through Saamarthya’s Open Door Policy, learning practical strategies to support their child’s development at home and in school.

Your support helps ensure that these children can continue receiving the care they need to grow, communicate, and thrive.

Why This Work Matters

For many families, the Sobati Project is the first time their child has received professional developmental support.

Parents are also guided on how to help their children practice therapy skills at home, making the impact long-lasting.

Through partnerships with Anganwadi centers, Saamarthya is building a community-based model of early intervention that reaches children who might otherwise remain invisible in the healthcare system.
